Dems School Funding
Last election Rep. Gary Sherman said he would work for school funding changes. Well it is election time and all he is doing is calling for a change. If he blames the Republicans that his hands are tied because they control the senate and assembly, remind people that the Governor is a Democrat and should work to help Gary Sherman resolve this situation. Last election Gary Sherman's ads stated the Governor is showing a lot of attention to the north because of Sherman.

DON'T BE FOOLED!
WHO REALLY GOT RID OF THE STATE INCOME TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS.
When the legislature was working on the state budget, the republicans introduced an amendment to eliminate the state income tax on social security benefits. The measure passed both the Assembly and the Senate. Representative Sherman and Senator Jauch voted against the state budget. Therefore, they voted against elimating the tax on Social Security. Let your Senior friends know the truth. Don't be fooled.
Governor Doyle, signed the budget and did not veto the proposal. Now, Governor Doyle is taking credit for this initiative. If he liked the proposal so much, why did he not include the measure in his original budget???? Had he vetoed it, he might have lost quite a few votes. Dont be fooled.
The original legislation was Assembly Bill 17. The legislation was authored by a Republican. Neither Sherman or Jauch signed on to co-sponsor the elimination of the state income tax on Senior Citizen Social Security. Don't be fooled.
IT IS AN ELECTION YEAR--TELL THE TRUTH!

CONCEALED CARRY ..LEST WE FORGET
Remember the Sherman flip flop on concealed carry? In this legislative session, once again he put his loyalty to the Governor over his constituents. Sherman voted not to override the Governor's veto of the concealed carry legislation.
In l998, when Sherman first ran for office, he campaigned with the promise that he would support concealed carry legislation. Don't be fooled!!

Higher Taxes, Fewer Jobs
Senator Bob Jauch
Higher Taxes, Fewer Jobs
And that's putting it mildly
THOUGHTS ABOUT PINK BILLBOARDS AND HONEST VOTING RECORDS
WE all love the north woods and we love the great state of Wisconsin. We like the people, the culture, and the outdoors. That is why many of us choose to make this our home. This is where we want to raise our families and hope our children have the opportunity to do the same.
However, due to Wisconsin's business and tax climate, this opportunity is no longer affordable to our children. If there aren't good paying jobs, no amount of good fishing makes it possible to stay here.
That's why I am so glad to see Senator Bob Jauch's record on taxes and job creation receive increased scrutiny. Northern Wisconsin is well-served by groups such as Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) who are willing to ask tough questions about Senator Bob Jauch or any elected official, who consistently vote to raise taxes, and against lowering taxes. Business people know, Wisconsin's tax climate makes it difficult to retain existing jobs and create new jobs, especially in the north country, an endearing place, we all like to call home.
A recent report by Competitive Wisconsin, a group of state leaders from the public and private sector, identifies enormous problems. In 2005 there were 55 announcements of new manufacturing plants in Illinois, 72 in Michigan, 35 in Minnesota, and 34 in Iowa. Wisconsin announced only five new plants.
There are problems for existing facilities too. In 2005 there were 75 announcements by companies that they were expanding their manufacturing operations in Illinois; 180 expansions announced in Michigan, 36 in Minnesota, and 64 in Iowa. Wisconsin had a meager six.
Let's add those together with data on other non-manufacturing expansions; Illinois saw 510 announcements, Michigan 505, Minnesota 176, Iowa 135, and Wisconsin had a grand total of 15.
Why the sad story? Wisconsin's tax climate, regulatory climate, and legal climate just does not make Wisconsin as attractive as it could be. Taxes do matter for companies deciding to build or expand.
Manitowoc County recently lost 300 high paying manufacturing jobs when airplane manufacturer LoPresti, announced Wisconsin is out of running for a new plant. "There is a snowball's chance in a Wisconsin summer of it landing here," LoPresti business development manager Todd Lohenry said. The stated reason: high taxes and less-than-friendly business environment.
Wisconsin has the sixth highest state and local taxes in the nation. That tax burden makes it all the more difficult to attract high paying jobs to northern Wisconsin. Not only are direct business taxes an issue, but high individual income and property taxes make it difficult for employers to recruit talent to this state. In addition, that tax burden, according to Bloomberg Financial, makes Wisconsin the worst state in the nation in which to retire.
The State's Chamber of Commerce, WMC, with more than 200 members employing nearly 20,000 people in Northern Wisconsin, recently placed pink billboards suggesting voters call their Senator Bob Jauch, to explain his record on taxes.
Let's take a look at some disturbing votes which reflect Bob Jauch's record of higher taxes and fewer jobs:
Jauch has voted for billions of dollars in tax hikes, including: in 1983 at the beginning of his legislative career, a 25 percent sales tax increase. Followed by hundreds of millions of dollars in "garbage" taxes, and proposed state budgets which raised various business taxes totaling $1 billion. Jauch has also voted against income tax cuts, against elimination of the jobs tax, and against the largest property tax cut in the history of Wisconsin. Bob Jauch has made a career and a livelihood out of increased taxes.
Ironically, the man who professes to be most concerned about the progressivity of the tax code actually voted to eliminate income tax indexing in 1982. And, just last year, Bob Jauch had the opportunity to vote to eliminate taxes on social security income, a significant contributor to Bloomberg's assessment of Wisconsin as a place to avoid retirement.
Senator Jauch voted to continue taxing that retirement income. Can you believe that? Jauch wanted seniors to pay taxes on their social security income. That's just wrong.
I am glad that the WMC has posted these billboards in northern Wisconsin. As far as I'm concerned, it is a public service. People need to know the truth. We in the north receive very little Madison news coverage. Therefore, I appreciate that WMC is here to provide needed information and help build a better business climate for all of us who love living in the Northwoods.
It is time for Bob Jauch to be accountable for his 24 year record on taxes. It is time for all of us, no matter what political persuasion, to demand more from our representatives in Madison.
I agree with WMC it is time to call Senator Jauch. Tell him Northern Wisconsin needs lower taxes and more jobs.
